I finally got my Tax Stamp approved this AM. 155 days for Eform1 for SBR.

Some are sailing through in a few weeks. Personally – I am over 140 days now and still awaiting the arbitrary “FBI” approval (the generic answer that allows BATFE to avoid any accountability whatsoever).

I submitted my SBR eform 30 May….got the cover sheet instantly but still no stamp – “pending FBI background check” or so I was informed by asking the “expert.”

Something has changed as or March or April, and not for the better.

It’s just silly. I am a DoD contractor whos has a lengthy background check to understate it severely. Why I can’t get cleared to screw on a shorter barrel in a reasonable amount of time is beyond me given allegedly I am working for the same team….lol.

I messaged BATFE as well and got basically the same message you described above – nearly verbatim.

I am on day 80 at present – this is silly.

Were you told that on the phone or did the portal give you an alert?

I’m a DoD contractor and do wonder if in the end my clearance slows mine down. My last Form 4 only took 89 days so I’m probably paying the piper for that small miracle.

Congrats on the quick turn-around!

Guess I am going to have to call and try the old “have you received my fingerprints” trick to see if I can land on the top of the reviewer’s pile…..grrrrr

I filed as an individual.

Just for general reference I am presently at 60 days from submission (prints arrived 5 business days after submission) with no coms from BATFE yet. I filed myself (not through SS).

I think their approval times are slipping a wee bit but the consensus seems to be the 30 day thing is presently a thing of the past.
