  • I believe the end of 2020 resulted in larger application submission. This may have continued into January and possibly longer. I’ve seen people report between mailed forms to checks cashed taking days to weeks longer. I heard others say that from the date cashed before getting into the atf database taking a couple months. The lack of any form 4’s…[Read more]

  • You are possibly very close to getting your Gemtech approved. Currently there appears to be just over two hundred day average. Those pending in January and March, who knows what those approval dates will be? I have one, over 170 days pending. I don’t expect to hear anything till end in August, if not later.

I was told something simular, wait 90 days for the application to be entered the system. It did not take a full 90 days in my case. But my pending date is when the check was cashed per the agent and not delayed due to the form 4 logged into the system.

  • The first can from SS I did not get an email notification when the check was cashed but their site did show the date. The second can from SS they did send me an email notification when the check was cashed. I would recommend checking the site if you did not receive an email.

  • Cheez, had you contacted the nfa and get a pending date?
    Thanks

Last September I waited 8 weeks from approval to stamp in hand. It took my telling the FFL that I written a letter to NFA for a certified copy; then magically the found the stamp, and were bold enough to say they had it foe a few weeks.

  • The wait for approval is at best half over. What kind of info were you calling about?

  • More efficient? Not being in away to be quicker in the time frame from cash check to approval. And a four plus learning curve? Is it that complex? Might be more likely filed with software bugs that need correcting would be a possible scenario. But i really don’t have access to how the NFA division is run.
    Thanks for your input.

    Just called ATF/NFA.
Per SS 23 days after Form 4 Individual was mailed to check cashed.
40 days after check cashed, still not in the system.
She, NFA agent, said there is a large backlog; they are trying to add more resources, and as of last week she was instructed to tell callers to expect a 90 day wait till it would in the system,…[Read more]

  • Nearly 17 weeks to cash a check? When was the form sent for the Sig, PStork?
    Crazy, just crazy.

About 4 months ago, I had a form 4 approved, waited 6 weeks and 2 days before mailing a request for a certified copy from the ATF. It took the ATF 3 weeks to mail me a copy. Not bad considering Thanksgiving week was in the reply time. Oddly when I told the dealer I mailed the ATF, amazing, the deal call me to say he had the stamp for some three weeks.

That is very fast Justin. Congratulations.
I’ve been waiting 50 days since approval for the stamp. Ugh.

  • 36 days after approval; dealer stated they still do not have the stamp. Telephoned NFA(ATF). They suggested writing and sign a letter to them and they will mail me a cerified copy of the tax stamp.
Its sad that there is a problem somewhere unkown with getting a stamp after approval.

  • Is transfer tracking database down? I can not access the page.
“Sorry, the page you requested cannot be found.”

  • Has anyone needed to request from NFA a duplicate or replacement stamp if one was never received by the dealer? If so, how long did you wait to request a replacement stamp, and how long did it take to receive this stamp?

  • I looked at the cvs file. Its full of omissions, and errors users have entered.
Like hundreds have no dates at all. Other fields state F4 individual in transferee type then Form 3, Form 1 or Suppressor and other entries in FormType. Some entries have same dates all way across, from Purchase to StampRecieved.
    Garbage in, garbage out

  • Its just gives the appearance of lack organization, where after a form is approved to see stamps at the dealer within a week for a few, and others over 5 weeks. Based on what I read here. I am just shaking my head; ponderance.

  • I am also at 20 days since approval. Approved, Sept 30. Waiting for the dealer to call to say they have the stamp. Hopefully any day now.
