Yes like people said above my original form was delayed due to the rule change. SS could no longer sign for the dealer/transferor. When the dealer signed in box 9 they said it was invalid because a commercial typed font was used instead of a written signature, since they cannot tell who signed it they are now marking them as disapproval. My examiner was Carol, she was very nice and said unfortunately due to new guidelines from her boss they could not simply have the signature corrected and move forward I would need to start the process all over. My $200 will be refunded which is something I wasn’t aware of but still to have to start the entire process over after waiting nearly 14 months. Thankfully the form 4 submitted in June of 2019 has a correct signature so should be seeing that sometime in the next 6-8 months. My first two purchases took around 10 months when I purchased June of 2016.

Your post had me concerned so I checked my application and the FFL had his signature on it so hopefully I am in the clear!! At least you got a couple of cans to work with!! The wait on the 1st one is dreadful!!

amishT, thanks for your post. I have several suppressors in the system right now throught SS. They are all approaching the 300 day mark. After reading your post I realized that only one of my docusign forms have the written out signature. The rest have the generic commercial font for a signature. All signed by the same transfer. The dealer transfers high volumes of suppressors every year. So I called him and he said that 50% are coming back approved, 25% are coming back for correslctions and the last 25% are flat out denied all due to the same thing. It appears to be a crap shoot with who you get to review and approve. Anyway, he said he spoke to SS and they said they are reaching out to NFA branch to hopefully get this fixed. They put a 2 week timeline on it for a response. That day is tomorrow. This dealer said he has a list if 32 persons with this error on their paperwork and will call each person directly once he gets a final response. He also said that SS said there are thousands of people with this issue. This is clear flaw in the system where the final decision is basically subjective over something trivial. If there was anything to contact your rep over, this might be it. Anyway thanks for putting the word out and sorry you got hit with that 25%. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Interesting, has there been a huge surge in applications? I’m still trying to figure how times dropped after the 41f rush eventually and now seem to be near a year again. I’m speculating at this point there may be a surge to get applications in a year before the next election.

The government shutdown really screwed the processing up. added another 2 -3 monts to the average 7 -8 month approval…

DTP, I think you are right about a surge in suppressor purchases. I don’t think the election is the reason. I just think the line has gotten really long. The video I mentioned in another thread provided some interesting statistics. There were about 900k suppressors sold in 2016 and 1.5 million in 2018, a bump of 600,000 purchases over two years! The video didn’t have numbers for 2019 but the trend was clear. I think companies like Silencershop have been successful with their ad campaign making suppressor buying sound easy peasy. And maybe people who have been waiting on the Hearing Protection Act have given up and decided to jump in. I was also waiting during the 41f era (I remember the photo of the bed of a pickup full of applications being delivered to the ATF by Silencershop) and I remember the ATF adding examiners to handle that surge. Of course the government shutdown had an impact, but probably no more than adding two months to the wait. You would think they would add more examiners under these circumstances but there is no appetite for growing government.

Seems like the atf faggots are only approving individuals lately. I haven’t seen any trust with two or more responsible persons on it getting approved, only douche individuals.

I usually take waiting in stride. Bitching about others being served before me only makes me look stupid. But I have to admit, as a “douche” individual, I’d love to get my stamp before Chris.

I have also had a 9/17 check cash for a 2 RP trust, 1st can purchase. Had an error letter sent out on 8/12 because there was a paper form 3 done to transfer the can to another dealer and that has caused some issues for my examiner, bottom line it looks like ATF is working through the pile of applications in the mid September range. My examiner has been very responsive to my new dealer so hopefully we can get this worked out this week, fingers crossed!!

How about this. We put whoever is in charge of cashing checks in charge of managing the FBI background checks?

Saw your reply Monsterman…. I agree suppressors advertising is working judging by the numbers you show and the ton of youtube reviews I see on them. I still chuckle how I was hesitant at the possible 3 month wait when first getting into the game. 41f was a rude awakening and seems to be the norm now.

That would be a great idea dtp! At times it does feel like a bait and switch operation with SS. But, there is nothing to do but wait. I have to say though, the memory of the wait fades pretty quickly once you get your suppressor. At least that’s been true for me. Good luck to you!

Called today from dealer. 339 total days from tax stamp check cashed date of 9/25/2018. Form 4 trust.

If you want accurate times use the 3 month look back chart. Not the 12 month.

I also never called them. I have a friend who is a patent officer and if ATF is anything like the patent office if you bug them they put your patent back in the middle of the stack if not back to the bottom.

Shut the fuck up, that’s not true at all. The people that answer the phones are nothing but secretaries. They have nothing to do with the approval process lol. So you’re full of shit, and if your friend is saying that’s what they do he’s full of shit too. So stop being a douchebag and telling lies!

        Chris,

        1. You must not deal with government employees very often, because if you truly believe what you said, then you’re naive.
        A. Yes, kicking applications to the bottom of the pile is totally a thing.
        B. Secretaries talk to their co-workers.
        2. Your obscenities undermine your attempted point, as you look like you lack vocabulary and the ability to express your ideas.
        3. We’re all here to have fun and talk NFA stuff. Go take the negative energy somewhere else.

        Cheers,
        K3B

You’re just an idiot spreading false information lol I have numerous stamps and call often after 2 months. Never took longer than 330 days to be approved. Actually my last silencer took 7.

I’m at 592 days (1/20/18 check cash date) on my TBAC 22.

Last week I got my Octane 45 in hand from a 10/1/18 check cash date, so my eligibility to purchase isn’t the issue, my trust is proper (had to amend in July ’18 due to the new law).

I’m afraid that due to age my TBAC 22 application will be rejected by the year’s end and I’ll lose money and have to do the whole thing over again…

Fear not. I started calling weekly when I was approaching the 340 day mark, and the “friendly” contract operators at the BATFE never told me that my application had been assigned to an examiner. My approval still came in approximately 340 days, but I never had the chance to ask the examiner about a batch approval for my other applications.

Man this bums me out. Trent (a guy in this forum) and I both had suppressor tax stamps cashed in the beginning of Oct. 2018. Mine was on October 9th and still haven’t got that call yet. I did contact on US Senator in my state and got the run around by the BATFE. 9-12 months to approval. Mine must have been put under some other tax stamps from later that month…. I don’t know. I’ll just shut up and wait.

Hang in there Tater, called last Friday and spoke with a very nice female, Samantha I believe it was, she was quite talkative and said they were trying a new system out on Form 4 Individual forms, therefore shorter time on those from what we’re seeing. She told me within 6 weeks….. so I’ll call again next Friday at day 350 and hope for the best

Why not just look at the at the paperwork they emailed you with, you can look on it and see for yourself.

I’ve got a checks cashed in Oct from them, the dealer signature is on it not SSA.

Might as well throw it in here, 4 from mid-late Oct cashed, all still pending as of last week. Form 4 trust 1 RP.

So, I contacted a past examiner about my pending can. Asking since I have been waiting for 3 days shy of a year is there anything I could do. Well they replied to me and advised me the they changed it to a proceed from a pending, but it advised that it hadn’t been assigned a examiner yet, they added maybe the just had not taken it out of their box yet… this is a absurd that at a year it hasn’t been assigned yet.

Congrats Tater, though my purchase was prior to yours and check was cashed before yours….. and today was told it hasn’t even made it to an examiner yet 🤔 Both Form 4 trusts, and the newer of the two forms made it first…. I give up, they’ll call sometime I suppose 😂
