    I think I’m getting close:
    Purchase: May 23, 2018
    Forms Sent: June 22, 2018
    Check Cashed: July 11, 2018
    Pending: July 13, 2018
Error Letter Sent: April 16, 2019 (There was a serial number typo on the Form 4 submitted by my dealer)…April 16 is also almost the exact time that I contacted my US Representative.

It seems like their system lags behind by quite some bit. I called last week and they did not have the information on the error letter being issued. This morning was the first time they mentioned it, about 2 weeks after it went out. Hopefully I’ll get some good news soon!

Brand new to this forum so please excuse any mistakes I may commit.

Purchased silencer and smg: April 15, 2018
Paperwork received by ATF: June 12, 2018
    Check cashed: late July, 2018
“Pending” status discovered in March 2019, because I didn’t realize I could call for it. When I called for status on April 26, I asked if it would be possible to speak to my examiner since they’ve had the packet for more than 10 months. I was told it hadn’t even been assigned yet.

We are a 4 person trust, with one of us previously having a Top Secret clearance, and two others currently possessing security clearances. Did I read somewhere here on the forum that because of all these clearances, our processing is going to be even longer? We’re over 300 days now. At what point should I be calling my congressman?

Purchased 2 cans March 17 2018. Check cashed March 27 2018. Sent back for corrections in October, then lost to the FBI black hole for about 6 months. Today I was told they were both approved on April 29 2019. That’s 398 days from check cashed to approved. Hoping to have stamps in hand next week.

NFA Tracker should adjust the formulas being used. Form 4 Trust indicates 230 days from check cashed to approval, however the majority of the inputs here are 260 and above. I am currently at 278 days and still waiting. Please investigate the discrepancy.

Just got my SilencerCo Chimera and Omega45k approved @280 and 282 days by 2 different examiners.

Hopefully you don’t have much longer to wait.

The 230 day number that you referenced is a rolling 12 month average. Unfortunately we’re way above average right now, so the number is going to keep climbing for a while.

That’s Why I use the 3 month average as it is slowly building much closer to the new average. Currently it shows 284 day average from check cashed to approval.

Dead air Sandman S & K purchased in 02/2018. ATF cashed check on 03/20/2018 no cans still pending 05/05/2019. Ridiculous and I’ve started four more form 4’s since then. 14 months is fucked up especially since I already a half dozen tax stamps or more.

2 more to go…Called multiple times over the past 7 months or so. From what information I was given during those calls, this suppressor was part of the September 2018 submissions to the FBI for the background check. About 2 weeks ago I contacted my Senator’s office, filled out the requisite paperwork, was given the standard response others have posted about the increase in applications and the government shutdown, and yet here we are with an approval. I would like to think that having the Senator’s office get involved helped but who really knows.

All of this makes no sense. I can buy a handgun or a rifle and walk out same day, but I have to wait a year to pick up an accessory for it. Pure Government genius at its finest.

    AAC 762 SDN-6 – Capitol Armory Purchased Dec 2017 – Stamp Received May 2019
NO RECORD // DOD TS CLEARANCE // TEXAS CHL HOLDER
Purchased all 3 December 2017… All forms mailed January 3rd, 2018.

September 10th, 2018 contacted 6th district congressman to assist in resolution. // WASTE OF TIME
October 17th, 2018 ATF response to congressman requesting Tax release forms (In order to look into Form 4’s):
    ACTUAL RESPONSE FROM ATF
Please note that the ATF website is accurate in the approximate 9 month turnaround for an ATF Form 4 to be processed. The processing times for ATF Forms 4 is approximately 9 months due to more than 184,243 pending NFA applications. In fiscal year 2007, ATF processed nearly 66,736 NFA applications. In 2016, ATF received processed more than 379,410 applications, a 469 % increase in NFA applications.

In regards to his forms, they are still pending. All 3 of his forms were submitted on January 2018 and they are approaching the end of the 9 month processing window. ///
Continued to contact ATF but only received “PENDING FBI BACKGROUND” STATUS OF ALL 3 STAMPS.
LATE APRIL 2019 — Finally able to get in contact with ATF Examiner.
    April 30th, 2019 – All 3 Stamps approved
    May 7th, Stamps Received
All I can say is to be courteous to the people on the other end of the phone, because we are really at their mercy when it comes to getting approval. I had 3 friends who purchased theirs in December 2017 along with me that received theirs in October 2018.. Just depends on the pile that you end up in. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Purchased Q Trash Panda 5-22-18 thru Silencershop. Form 4 trust check cashed 7-11-18. Should have known when it took over 7 weeks to cash the damn check that this was going to be a loooooooooooooong process. At the time I was told the wait time would be 6-8 months max. I am one week away from being 1 year from date of purchase and still do not have the tax stamp much less the suppressor.

Status was pending the last 3 times I have called to check. As of today at day 310 since check was cashed. This wait time is ridiculous for everyone and takes the fun out of buying a suppressor.

I completely agree. Its beginning to feel like a de facto ban at this point to get most of us to give up on doing the process. I would have much rather built my own suppressor at this point as the Form 1 process is much faster… I wonder if its because a NICS check is not required on self built items? I am going to search around the Form 1 forums to see if that’s the case.

Nvm FBI NICS check is done on all regardless. I don’t know why I was thinking the way I did… Either way even with E file Form 1’s have always been processed faster then Form 4s.

Interesting, I’ve noticed several other instances where folks with TS wound up in theFBI background check black hole. As crazy as it would be, I wonder if having an active TS is something that triggers a deeper look at the FBI?

It Doesn’t trigger a deeper look per say. Every time a person has a hit for an investigation or arrest the FBI needs to verify as to what it was for and what the outcome was. A lot of time it takes time for them to request the records to see that it is indeed nothing that warrants a decline in the approval process. So if someone had recently done a T3R or T5R (previously NACLC or SSBI) the system shows a hit that an investigation was previously done on said person, and the FBI simply needs to verify that it was for a clearance and not a criminal investigation. Due to the level of clearance a request needs to be made for access to the record for them to review. Honestly it shouldn’t add as much time as it seems to, but it seems they didn’t gain any more manpower like the BATF did to upkeep with the growing requests.
