Liberty Centurion 9 paperwork received on 11/19/18, unknown Postal Order cashed date, stamp approved 9/1/19, stamp received pending. 286 days from paperwork received to approval, still pending receiving stamp.

    Total gobsmaked, total shock!

I really do not know what is
going on at BATF. Still do not have
    any answers.

    Even Morphy Auctions are speechless

    I attended Morphy’s April 26th 2019
auction… won two items. Their Form 4s were
approved August 15th 2019. Shipping agent notified
me August 21th 2019. He could not explain the
    rapid turn around.

I think Bad Mojo that you have indeed won the ATF lottery! I wonder if Morphy’s (is this a gun shop?) has someone on the inside helping out. It would be interesting to know if anyone else who participated in your auction had similar luck. I am happy for you. Enjoy it!

This does fly in the face of everything I’ve been told about the process (see earlier post on page 58 if you are interested). While waiting for my last can they seemed much more forthcoming about answering questions. I called for the first time last week on this can (I am at 285 days) and the person didn’t want to answer any. I have to stick with my theory about someone knocking over the stack of applications so they got shuffled. The resulting new averages on the tracker are pretty meaningless. I suspect the real wait time is still around 300 days (on apps that aren’t flagged because of errors or something else). But these new data points have us all scratching our heads.

I went to Silencershop.com this morning and looked at their tracker data. Underneath their graph it says that the data is taken from this site. But in the “individual form 4 paper” column they show 175 days from check cashing to approval. If you look at the same graph here it shows 276 days, over 100 days difference! Maybe it’s a simple error, but I tend to think they are trying to paint a rosier picture of the wait in order to sell their suppressors. They know that potential customers don’t want to wait a year for a stamp. A bit of bait and switch I think.

Yes I believe silencer shop is pulling the ol bait and switch which they have got me. This is my first can and when looking through their data I seen a 175 day wait and thought that’s not too bad so I went ahead and snatched one up. I now know that this is not true after calling and asking them they said it’s currently a year wait but I guess that’s how it goes when they’re trying to bring in business

From check cashed date: 27 Nov 18
to approval date: 12 Aug 19
My wait time was 259 days.
        But when run through
        a work day calculator
my wait times was only 179 days.

Maybe their are listing their times in working days.
Which if it is not posted is still a bait and switch but it might explain the difference in wait times.

There is actually a link to this site directly under Silencershop’s graph. Since people using this site only report calendar days I don’t believe that Silencershop would be using a business day count (although that seems like a reasonable explanation kc7pwx). I also remember someone posting that Silencershop bought this site. If that’s true, then the discrepancy would be even more egregious. Like Diezel504 I think many people considering a suppressor would think very differently about a 175 day wait than a 275 day wait.

On a slightly different topic…you can tell from my previous posts that I’m bothered by the most recent day counts. While I still think it could be the result of someone accidentally knocking over a stack of applications and shuffling them as they were picked up, it might be something a bit more sinister (just a little). If I were an examiner getting shit about the average wait time growing too large, I might consider approving a handful of very recent applications. The 3 month wait time was around 308 days before the recent spate of low counts. When you add a 62 day and a few 80 and 90 day counts into the mix the average drops radically. That is why it is now 274 days. Of course it’s only bothersome because it gets my hopes up. It suggests that at 287 days I’m right on the edge of getting my stamp when I probably have another month before I get to the real average (when you take away the recent anomalies).

In all fairness I know that the real problem is that I’m getting very impatient. This happens to me every time I get close to the average day count. Waiting one more month shouldn’t be a big deal, but it is!

Hello everybody! Just got my YHM turbo!! Can’t believe the process is finally over.

    Purchased- 10/27/2018
    Cashed- 11/19/2018
    Approved- 08/27/2019
    Picked up- 09/09/2019

Now it’s time to purchase another! Good luck to all of you out there that are still waiting. It surely sucks having to wait that long. Luckily I didn’t have to wait as long as some others out there.

Congrats Trevor and Sanagie! Well johnnyboy505, you certainly have the dubious honor of the longest wait ever reported, and you haven’t even reported any! The graph only goes up to 400 days! Usually I would caution people about pestering them too much with phone calls. But in your case I think you should be calling them daily until you get someone who will give you some answers. What’s strange is that none of them have been approved. I doubt they are being examined as a batch. So the odds of having all of them with that kind of wait time is extraordinary. I’m sure this is driving you crazy!

I was approved on 9/9/19, per my examiner and he made the comment that I should see it at the dealer on 9/13 or 9/14. My dealer told me that they send it regular mail, I live in the Fl Panhandle so that would be about right if they mailed it on 9/9 or 9/10…..I would have paid for UPS next day air if they would have given me the option, it sure would add insult to injury if USPS snail mail looses it!! I hope I did not just jinks myself!!

I had an interesting experience yesterday with my registered HK trigger pack. I called and was told it was disapproved the day before. I asked to speak with the examiner to get clarification. Trish called me back and said it was a non-transferable machine gun. The original Form 4 was submitted in April of 1986 and received at the ATF branch on 5-8-86. I was told that the machine gun had to be approved BEFORE the May 19 cutoff in order to still be transferable. I have a copy of the original form 4 with an approved stamp. Trish, the examiner, was very helpful and said there was a misunderstanding and lifted the restriction. All I have to do now is send a new form to her attention and she will get it processed. Check was cashed on 1-3 and I should have the stamp back at the end of the month or so. I normally believe that calling for a status update doesn’t do anything but in this case they halted the refund and helped me out.
