I am curious as to how often the form 4 individual information is updated. On one hand it says average 150 days then according to the chart we are still in April. My card was Debited June 20. Is it calendar days or business days? The silencer shop states that they are receiving approvals on august already.

Currently you’re looking about 7 months 1 week on approvals for Form 4 Individual. The wait time is in CALENDAR days.
As far as the SS website, you might want to read it again. They are in red numbers, meaning the dates are more than 7 days old. The date is 8/8/2015, not 2016.

They have been coming in under 5 months for the form 4 individual here in spokane Washington. My check was cashed June 30th 017 so mine stamp should be here in less than 3 weeks

Any form 4 individuals been approved lately? Called last week and mine was still pending. Check cashed April 18th
- 12/27/2016 at 11:43 am #75744
Yes, my check cash date was 4/29 and I was approved 12/16.
- 12/27/2016 at 12:03 pm #75748
Damn. Hopefully mine is approved soon

Don’t hold your breath. Mine was received on 8/12/16 check cashed 8/17/16 and I still have nothing. It is still pending.
- 01/04/2017 at 7:32 pm #75944
Do you know how long after your info was processed til your item was passed through? My form 4 check was cashed the 26th of July and just today, 1-4 it was entered into the NFA sytem.

Approved one week ago. Sent it out May 18th. Less than six months. Can’t beat it. Let’s go USPS with that stamp!

So question on this….my check was cashed 2 days after i FEDEX’d the package to them. Most of the trackers say 40 days to check cash, or is that 40 days check cash to pending status?
- 12/27/2016 at 12:02 pm #75747
Once your check is cashed it automatically begins the “pending” status.
- 12/27/2016 at 2:01 pm #75754
So to clear up some confusion. Your “check” is processed usually in the first 3 to 5 days. Then you are in “pending” status, but with there back up it may take 1-4 months to be inputting in the system and be truly pending. Then you wait for them to say approved.
- 12/27/2016 at 6:07 pm #75764
Travisk0024 is correct as this is the new norm. It used to be that when the check was cashed, then within a day or two it was entered into the system. But with the huge surge in applications, there is a large backlog of applications to enter as it takes longer to enter your information into the system than it takes to pull the check and enter it so it may be cashed.
- 12/28/2016 at 1:41 pm #75776
Makes sense now guys…thank you. So my dealer is correct about the check cashing, just BATFE is behind with input. I would imagine once in their system it takes the date the check was cashed in an as of capacity to start the process. Fingers crossed to have it by August.
- 12/28/2016 at 2:39 pm #75778
The application takes the date and case number assigned. It goes pending when the application is reviewed, deemed complete and correct and all information is entered in the system…which as you see is sometimes later than the check cashing then each case is assigned in a first in, first assigned (based upon case/application number) to a reviewer depending upon their case load.
Not magic nor is it a mystery, just standard Federal bureaucracy.

finally aprroved!!!!
Check cashed: 4-18
approved: 12-28
Now to wait for the stamp to come in- 01/30/2019 at 1:20 pm #93293
I purchased my first black rifle, a 300 BLK with an 9 inch barrel with suppressor. So this is a two stamp gun. These would be processed together, or would I have to wait twice as long as someone with a single stamp?
I did this under my own name thru a silencer shop kiosk, so I think I would be looking at Form 4 Individual wait times?
Executed documents on 6-22-2018 and checks were both cashed on 7-12-2018
Based on the current wait times, and assuming they process both at the same time, I should be only a few weeks away from being approved. All I have to do here is call the NFA branch to get an update? They all just got back to work on Monday morning, so maybe I will call next week. Does anyone know if everyone calling the NFA to get status updates slows down the process for everyone else? Perhaps the NFA has a dedicated person working the phones to give people updates?
- 12/31/2016 at 7:30 am #75833
I see a lot of posts with mentions of application “pending”, where are you getting status updates?
I am currently over 6 months since check cashed.thanks
- 12/31/2016 at 11:22 am #75837
You have to call the nfa branch and they will ask for your serial number and who it is being transferred to. Then they will give you the status. If you have only been waiting 6 months you still have a ways to go. At least 2 more months if not longer. Mine took close to 8 months and my check was cashed first week of May. This was with a trust and not the first item on the trust

Anyone else here that would like to report individual form 4’s? It would be much appreciated.
- 02/28/2017 at 4:21 pm #77748
wish i could still waiting check cashed june 14th, 2016 hope i have it by end of march.
- 02/28/2017 at 4:29 pm #77750
Now more often it just seems like such a turnaround from what data has been reported. :/ .
Most of the reports here have been around the 230-ish day mark and in which case you should have been free and clear. With that being said and in my opinion, I feel like they put a stop on the individuals and have been doing more trusts rather. They don’t make that sort of info public but it really seems to be that way because that is all that has been reported for the last couple weeks.
I have one from July 6th, 2016. Each time I call they tell me something different. Last month I called and they said March and then a few days ago I called and she told me It would be more like the 10 month mark rather than the 8. Just bogus. Rant over.
- 02/28/2017 at 4:33 pm #77751
right there with ya 259 days today or 8 months 14 days
- 03/01/2017 at 10:12 pm #77806
My checks were also cashed on 6/14/16. When I called to check my status on Monday, they told me im still pending and that they are currently processing June. Hopefully not much longer as ive seen people from May/June getting theirs as early as Jan.
- 02/28/2017 at 5:26 pm #77752
Me too. 4 cans Form 4 trust. Checks cashed 6/24/16, still no word. Guessing the last week of March.
- 02/28/2017 at 5:31 pm #77753
Yeah, for trusts they are still in late May and barely into early June.
As for individuals; they are some what closer to the 4th week of June as far as reports show. (These can be viewed on the transfer tracking)The difference of where they are in the forms is because of all the trust submissions trying to squeak in under the old rules. It basically backlogged the trusts form 4’s.
- 02/28/2017 at 9:19 pm #77764
Hey Spy, do the individual forms get sorted from the trusts? Or is it first come first served?
Brad
- 02/28/2017 at 9:24 pm #77765
In theory no. They leave them intermingled and are not separated for different examiners.
But if you could think of it symbolically as 2 lines. Both equal in length. One for trust and one for individuals. Both lines are in theory being helped at the same pace. BUT, what makes it different is that there are more in the trust line.
Essentially because there are not as many in the individual line, it inherently moves fast in terms of date of approval.
- 05/19/2017 at 2:20 pm #80066
I’m not sure that makes sense… if they leave them intermingled and do not separate trusts from individuals then the example of two lines doesn’t add up. Two separate lines (equal or otherwise) in of itself insinuates separation. Obviously folks are posting Aug approvals and Trusts are still in early to mid July, so something doesn’t add up. I called them today and they told me they do not get separated or reviewed by different department. They said its on a first come first serve basis. If that was the case, then how are the individual apps almost 30 days ahead…? Mine went pending late Oct so I’m ecstatic seeing aug individual approvals. Hope more people can post their Pending/Approval dates to see if there is a pattern or some folks simply got lucky.
- 05/19/2017 at 5:54 pm #80073
They don’t separate them…..but the trusts go through an “extra” step to have the trust looked at. It used to be that trusts were faster, but since there are so many of them and only so many examiners to look at the trusts, they are taking about a month longer now.

- 03/08/2017 at 4:09 pm #78033
My check was cashed September 9 2016. Should I expect my form 4 individual approval around the middle of May? Also are the individual form 4 approvals quicker than the trust ones
- 03/08/2017 at 4:12 pm #78034
figure 8-10 months from check cashed date, and it seems individual are going a little faster than trust from what i have seen. trust forms are at 6-12–6-15 range and individual are now into july.

Thanks biggdawg!

Credit card charged August 1st, 2016. Called today to get my control number and it’s 2017104xxx. All the ones I’ve seen being approved are 2016xxxxxx.
- 03/21/2017 at 1:23 pm #78487
So does you having a control # means it’s approved and stamp is on its way?
- 03/21/2017 at 1:37 pm #78488
It is still pending. My question is more based on the control number. Why is mine 2017 verse 2016 like all the others.
- 03/21/2017 at 5:08 pm #78497
Gemtech trek purchased today. I used the silencer shop kiosk. So it will be interesting to see how things go.

Ugh……. Just got done calling. Completed my paperwork back in October of 2016 with my local dealer in AZ but just got notification that the ATF processed payment in March 2017. Wondering who sat on my paperwork so long. So long on my dreams of bringing home my first sbr this year……. Either way, I’m finally pending and have uploaded it to the system.
- 09/17/2017 at 11:13 pm #82763
I have a feeling you’ll be seeing your stamp approved this year afterall.
