Looks like Soltrust is on to something with the Control numbers. They seem to be sequential.

Just a thought to NFATRACKER, if you could get a big enough sampling on permit control numbers that we could input on our entry page with our other dates, and you could get a rough estimate of the number approved per day. would that not help you tighten up your estimated approval date ?

      Waiting on 3 e-filed F1s submitted/IP:
      5/20 @ 1830 hrs 62473**
      5/20 @ 1900 hrs 62474**
      6/17 @ 1900 hrs 62904**

Also took notice of the possibility of consecutive control numbers after back-to-back submissions in May. If so, during that particular time interval of approx 30 mins (1830-1900 hrs) there were 12 submissions based on the difference between my control numbers.

Judging by your numbers, llc/corp looks to have different numbers than trusts.

I think they’re the same, no? Take off the first 6 (part of the “2016” on the beginning of the permit #), and his would seem to be in line with the other members’ permit #s leading up to it.

        5/16 = 240,100
        5/19 = 241,500
        6/9 = 270,900
        6/17 = 290,400
        6/24 = 302,400 (advert LLC)
        7/10 = 329,300 (advert LLC)

What’s very telling is that between May and just before 41F in July there was something like 100,000 forms filed, 50k per month! How does that compare to months/years prior?

I don’t know how likely people would be to also input their permit #’s with their form 1 or 4 info, but that would be a very powerful data point. I personally wouldn’t mind putting the exact permit # as I don’t think anything of value could be taken from it by a “criminal”. If someone had the know-how to hack the ATF database to go find me specifically based on that ID #, that’d be the least of my worries.

I kind of felt the same way about the permit numbers. I just left out the last two with XX just because everyone else.

they are all assigned a control number when received by the ATF. so the control numbers could also be accounting for all forms received by the ATF. form 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc…

Good point, I’m still waiting on my first ever form 4’s submitted in June, so I probably won’t know until a few months into 2017 what those numbers are.

Anyone have any recently approved form 4 permit #s to compare these to? I’m guessing anyone with early April form 4’s would be the closest we’d get for now. Perhaps if anyone calls to check status they could ask what the permit #s are on pending apps?

Just received my 2 form 4 stamps today. Approved 11/12/16. These are my first stamps so I do not know where the control number is located. Pending since March 30.

you do realize there are forms dealers send in when they sell to another dealer or manufacturer sell to distributor or dealer and so on. theres a form submitted when a manufacturer creates an NFA item. not the us lowly consumer end forms (1&4).

If they were smart, they would NOT have them all share common permit #s. That’d be a terrible system for organization (I think), a form 1 be permit # 2016000001 and a form 4 be 2016000002 if that were the order they were received in. You’d have form 1s, form 3s, form 4s, form whatevers all as separate permit groups, separate “piles” each with distinct consecutive numbering systems.

      Thanks everyone for the updates.

      Here are mine;
      Both Form 1, Trust, E-files

      6/16/16 – 285,3XX
      6/17/16 – 290,0XX

Not enough info to be representative, but it looks like they were getting almost 5k forms a day in mid June.

I e-filed a Form 1 Trust on one of the worst days to do it: June 30th, so the crunch was already on with the mass of filings to beat the deadline. I had just bought my SIG MPX a week before. You know, the “perfect storm” situation. So, I got the Trust paperwork all done and emailed off, along with the debit card for the $200 and now it’s just a matter of waiting. And waiting. And waiting. I’ve carped and bitched and whined a little bit, but it won’t change anything. At first I was hoping at least by Thanksgiving. Not gonna happen. Then I thought Santa would nudge the BATFE Fairy and I’d find something in the email long about Christmas morning. I’ve actually given up on that, and am expecting something maybe in January. Perhaps in time for Valentine’s Day? All I can say is…I feel everyone’s pain…try to stay happy keep your eyes on the prize: the Stamp.

Does it say submitted/in processes all the way up till you get the email saying it has been approved?

I’m hoping to get a email any day now. But with this being a holiday week. its probably going to get pushed back even more.

Getting a lot of good help here, just by reading. I’m a novice, this is my first ever stamp application, which I did via Form 1 efile. Where do you find the “number” that I see people mentioning?

      Thanks.

Logon to the eForms site (which is down for maintenance on Wednesdays). Under My Forms, expand Submitted/In Process, then click on the eForm you submitted. One of the columns will be Permit Number, in the format 2016253000. Just omit the 2016 part, and the remaining number is what everyone is referring to. This is also your Application Number, and sometimes referred to as Control Number. It should be on the initial email you received when you submitted your eForm.
