11 months is far too long of a wait. Based on ATF numbers, they received 379,410 applications. At $200/stamp, that comes to $75,882,000 in a single year. If an agent can (very conservatively) process five applications per day then that means they’d need 825 agents to process all of those within a single three month period. Each agent could make approximately $92,000/year (not including benefits and other expenses). Assuming the ~380k applications came in evenly throughout the year and they could still process five applications per day, they’d only need 208 agents at $461,000/year. It could all be self-funding AND the applications would be returned within a reasonable (albeit not immediate) amount of time, without adding to the burden of the other taxpayers.
