I am curious as to how often the form 4 individual information is updated. On one hand it says average 150 days then according to the chart we are still in April. My card was Debited June 20. Is it calendar days or business days? The silencer shop states that they are receiving approvals on august already.

Currently you’re looking about 7 months 1 week on approvals for Form 4 Individual. The wait time is in CALENDAR days.

As far as the SS website, you might want to read it again. They are in red numbers, meaning the dates are more than 7 days old. The date is 8/8/2015, not 2016.

Do you know how long after your info was processed til your item was passed through? My form 4 check was cashed the 26th of July and just today, 1-4 it was entered into the NFA sytem.

So question on this….my check was cashed 2 days after i FEDEX’d the package to them. Most of the trackers say 40 days to check cash, or is that 40 days check cash to pending status?

Once your check is cashed it automatically begins the “pending” status.

So strange thing…my dealer told me the check was cashed….but calling the ATF for status they say it is not in the system. Should I be concerned here?

I would definitely ask your dealer how and where he got that information.

So to clear up some confusion. Your “check” is processed usually in the first 3 to 5 days. Then you are in “pending” status, but with there back up it may take 1-4 months to be inputting in the system and be truly pending. Then you wait for them to say approved.

Travisk0024 is correct as this is the new norm. It used to be that when the check was cashed, then within a day or two it was entered into the system. But with the huge surge in applications, there is a large backlog of applications to enter as it takes longer to enter your information into the system than it takes to pull the check and enter it so it may be cashed.

Makes sense now guys…thank you. So my dealer is correct about the check cashing, just BATFE is behind with input. I would imagine once in their system it takes the date the check was cashed in an as of capacity to start the process. Fingers crossed to have it by August.

The application takes the date and case number assigned. It goes pending when the application is reviewed, deemed complete and correct and all information is entered in the system…which as you see is sometimes later than the check cashing then each case is assigned in a first in, first assigned (based upon case/application number) to a reviewer depending upon their case load.

Not magic nor is it a mystery, just standard Federal bureaucracy.

I see a lot of posts with mentions of application “pending”, where are you getting status updates?
I am currently over 6 months since check cashed.

    thanks

You have to call the nfa branch and they will ask for your serial number and who it is being transferred to. Then they will give you the status. If you have only been waiting 6 months you still have a ways to go. At least 2 more months if not longer. Mine took close to 8 months and my check was cashed first week of May. This was with a trust and not the first item on the trust

    Check cashed 5-4-16
    Approved 12-21-16
    still waiting on stamp

Now more often it just seems like such a turnaround from what data has been reported. :/ .
Most of the reports here have been around the 230-ish day mark and in which case you should have been free and clear.

With that being said and in my opinion, I feel like they put a stop on the individuals and have been doing more trusts rather. They don’t make that sort of info public but it really seems to be that way because that is all that has been reported for the last couple weeks.

I have one from July 6th, 2016. Each time I call they tell me something different. Last month I called and they said March and then a few days ago I called and she told me It would be more like the 10 month mark rather than the 8. Just bogus. Rant over.

My checks were also cashed on 6/14/16. When I called to check my status on Monday, they told me im still pending and that they are currently processing June. Hopefully not much longer as ive seen people from May/June getting theirs as early as Jan.

Yeah, for trusts they are still in late May and barely into early June.
As for individuals; they are some what closer to the 4th week of June as far as reports show. (These can be viewed on the transfer tracking)

The difference of where they are in the forms is because of all the trust submissions trying to squeak in under the old rules. It basically backlogged the trusts form 4’s.

Hey Spy, do the individual forms get sorted from the trusts? Or is it first come first served?

In theory no. They leave them intermingled and are not separated for different examiners.

But if you could think of it symbolically as 2 lines. Both equal in length. One for trust and one for individuals. Both lines are in theory being helped at the same pace. BUT, what makes it different is that there are more in the trust line.

Essentially because there are not as many in the individual line, it inherently moves fast in terms of date of approval.

I’m not sure that makes sense… if they leave them intermingled and do not separate trusts from individuals then the example of two lines doesn’t add up. Two separate lines (equal or otherwise) in of itself insinuates separation. Obviously folks are posting Aug approvals and Trusts are still in early to mid July, so something doesn’t add up. I called them today and they told me they do not get separated or reviewed by different department. They said its on a first come first serve basis. If that was the case, then how are the individual apps almost 30 days ahead…? Mine went pending late Oct so I’m ecstatic seeing aug individual approvals. Hope more people can post their Pending/Approval dates to see if there is a pattern or some folks simply got lucky.

They don’t separate them…..but the trusts go through an “extra” step to have the trust looked at. It used to be that trusts were faster, but since there are so many of them and only so many examiners to look at the trusts, they are taking about a month longer now.

figure 8-10 months from check cashed date, and it seems individual are going a little faster than trust from what i have seen. trust forms are at 6-12–6-15 range and individual are now into july.

Ugh……. Just got done calling. Completed my paperwork back in October of 2016 with my local dealer in AZ but just got notification that the ATF processed payment in March 2017. Wondering who sat on my paperwork so long. So long on my dreams of bringing home my first sbr this year……. Either way, I’m finally pending and have uploaded it to the system.

    Sweet build littlegto!

I am also running a Douglas CLE barrel. Mine has Franks match chamber. What are you getting for accuracy? Handloads?

Mine is shooting decent with my standard load of Rem cases, 24 grains of Reloder 15 under 75 grain Hornady BTHP’s set at mag length. I think it might have a little more accuracy if I work with my load. I’m averaging .625 CTC @ 100.

there are multiple early August approvals reported above, and that was 2 weeks ago so I’m assuming you are more likely to get there by the end of this month rather than July. My approval date trails your by 3.5 weeks and i was told late July.

I wonder if they just put all resources on pre-41F submissions before moving on to post 41F. Haven’t seen any Individual approvals in a while and the ones that have been approved seem to have been mailed before July 13th (according to the tracker). I’m currently waiting on an Individual Form 4 postmarked Aug. 4th with an Aug. 8th pending date.

I haven’t updated the tracker but I mailed my individual form 4 July 25/26. Check cashed aug 3. Approved 5/26/17. I mailed a form 1 and 4 at the same time. Form 1 was approved 5/10 and form 4 5/26. Both approved by what looks like Carrie Fischer

See a few posts above, there are two individuals with Aug submission dates that received approvals a month ago. Given limited amount of individual submissions, I suspect you won’t see as much activity as trusts, but I believe those should be closer towards the end of Aug at this point.

I talked to the dealer I purchased from and they said they haven’t gotten anything back past July 8 2016 so far. I don’t know if he meant purchase on July 8 or went pending. Either way it’s gonna be while for my November 15th pending date.

I thought by now I would have been giving a happy report on my first center fire suppressor. Unfortunately, the dealer made a mistake on my July 2016 ATF form. Everything was sent back to me earlier this year and I had to redo and resubmit everything again.

I just talked to a very polite lady at the ATF. She told me that your original file date is wiped out and you have to go back to the end of the line and start over again. Guess I will not have a suppressor anytime this year either. Sigh.

I would prefer not to bad mouth my SW PA dealer as he has been good to me for many years on non NFA items. The problem came because they changed the forms literally the day that I purchased, 7/13/16.

The dealer, for whatever reason, did not know the old form would no longer work. While he sells many different suppressors, his main business is non-NFA firearms.

I am not pleased at all but my long wait is due to the dealer error and the ATF who did not send my incorrect forms back for 7 months. They were quick to cash the check but nobody caught the obsolete forms. I cannot imagine that I am the only one that this happened to but maybe I am.

I also purchased a few days after the deadline. I hope I don’t have any issues since the dealer was also slightly unfamiliar with new method. I really feel for you. I would be so annoyed, I would see if I could cancel the purchase for a refund. It still doesn’t make sense to me. Suppressor manufacturer got paid, the dealer made sale and got paid, and atf cashed there tax stamp and got paid. But we sit and hope they throw us a bone when we make the businesses go round with our money in our pockets that fund all of them. Doesn’t seem right to me but I guess it is what it is.

One of my bosses has been waiting nearly 2.5 years. About 15 months in,he found out he was flagged because the dealer he used, sold, and the FFL info changed. Obviously nothing ever got updated so they kicked it back and he started all over again.

I will never buy another suppressor or build and SBR until ATF changes the rules. No way I am waiting over 12 months to use something I already paid for.

I see no reason even why there is any wait at all after the first one. They have our prints, pictures, and background checks already on file. We have complied as much a dealer has so why do we have to do it again and again each time?

At least make the process times reasonable. The wait time should be no more than 30 days. These super long wait times of 90 days or more make no sense. Getting out to nearly a year or beyond is not acceptable. So much time has passed that there are new cans out there by the time we receive ours. Cancelling now doesn’t really get me any closer to the goal so I don’t have any better options and will have to stick it out another 10 months to a year. 🙁

There is also the possibility that the dealer might go under while you are waiting to get approved. It is rare but it does happen, especially with smaller outfits. You will have no recourse against the seller if that happens. Your money is gone.

This is a real thing, and it’s not just about the retailer or dealer you buy from. I purchased an NFA item from a manufacturer, and because of the governments ridiculous wait times, I wasn’t able to find out that there was a manufacturing flaw until they were already out of business. Now I get to try and fix something that should have been warrantied or refunded if it would have been timely.

Called ATF again, spoke to a guy named Bill, pretty nice guy and very personable. How ever he informed me it would more than likely be another month till my late Sept approval. It’s killing me, I’m in a Facebook group where I guy had a date in March 2017 and received approval in july 2017 how the heckkk

Obviously i believe you were told that but I don’t buy anything those people say. So many folks on here said how they would call and get a NO when asking if their applications being reviewed, just to find out later that not only was it being reviewed but actually approved. I personally called today and was told they are still working the last two weeks of July when i haven’t seen a third week approvals in a few weeks now. Post41 guys on here have gotten approvals 11 days ago so not sure it will be a month… prob just downplaying it so you don’t call all the time.

Right I just want to hear good news for once, i wish there was actual logic on how and when these forms get approved. The worst part is being in the dark for a better part of a year. I keep being told forget about it, it will come, or buy more hosts, I just can’t seem to shake these last few weeks

Got the call from my Dealer yesterday. Form 4 Individual (post 41F) was approved on July 7th. Pleasantly surprised as I had actually called for an update on July 7th and was told that my application was still “pending.” Dealer said this was the first “New Stamp” they had seen so far. They seemed surprised the application went through without any issues. Spreadsheet has been updated.

    Mailed 8/2/16
    Check Cashed 8/7/16
    Approved 7/7/17

first time posting but i have an individual form 4 with a check cashed date of oct 12th i believe this puts me at right about 286 days of waiting. if we look at the graph we are now in a downward trend, if i continue the trend i should be getting approved any day now. i called last Thursday (5 days ago) and they said i was pending. anyone think im close or got a month or what? open to speculation

I called a week ago as well with a check cashed date of September 26. was told another month but am seeing early to mid September approvals well over a week old. I would just say its safe bet to assume they are blindfolding auditors and letting them throw darts at the submissions to see who gets approved next.

I think we are past the starting point. There are 14 post 41f entries spanning from Aug to Mid September. I think we are on a full steam post 41f train as of now. And that doesn’t even include all the folks who haven’t found out that they’ve been approved. That in combination with a low volume in general prob gives you enough to believe we are past it all.

Long time lurker, but I thought I’d chime in on my situation. I have a check cash date of 8/09/16. Being that we’ve all seen some August 2016 being approved I decided to call the ATF. Nice lady said they send a letter to my dealer for some missing signatures, and that it hasn’t been rejected, but not yet approved. I have a message out to my dealer so hopefully any confusion or missing signature issue can be resolved asap. I suggest anyone who is on the fringe of an approval just check in on it, doesn’t hurt and you can get in front of any issues before it jeopardizes your wait time any longer.

I called for the first time last week to inquire about my pending date. Two with the same date and was told by Stephanie they are still in July. I didn’t even ask her what month they are currently processing. I just wanted to know my pending date.

I am 240 days on both and it appears it may be several months more before approval.

I am not really sure what to believe at this point. I was told by the end of July i would have approval for my late Sept Check Cashed Date. However when I called 2 weeks ago they said another month. but then at the end of that month wait it will probably be another month and another till its eventually approved lol. I have come to the conclusion ( once again.) to never trust the government hahaha anyone telling you when to expect your approval is spitballing as much as anyone. you wont get it til its in your hand and can only base an aprox time frame by what we see on here. all that you can do is hope but as they say you can hope in one hand and S*** in the other and see which one fills up faster hahaha. My problem is im drinking the Koolaid like everyone else and holding on to hope as everyone else this is the hardest wait i have ever done. been calling once a week and wondering if i should call today or wait it out

I literally just saw a guy on the ASA’s Facebook post from 3hrs ago say he was approved today with the check cash date of October 11th. I bought my suppressor October 16th and a the check cashed date is Dec. 2nd…hurry up dang it.

Keep dreaming, Don’t expect it in under 12 months. I have friends that submitted first week in July and still not approved.

They filed as a trust or individual?

Sales went to shit after the whole July/41F overload. Things will speed up unless they start firing examiners.

I would say if you have a pre 41f form outstanding, I would call the ATF and dealer to see what is up. Seeing a bunch of post 41f approvals so there almost has to be an issue (or it was misplaced or something).

spoke with Laura (who unlike Stephanie is much more honest) and my Oct 24th app has gone through background check and pending examiners review. Might not mean much but certainly a progress. As far as where they are, she said they are processing Aug and Sept with only a tinny fraction of July app remaining. And those apparently have some hair on them. I told her a buddy of mine received a mid Oct approval and she said they have “agents helping” them process applications and they will grab them out of “first come first serve” order. Apparently they will not scale back on the amount of applications they process until they get inside of 6 months processing. Some good news!

Hoping working on Aug/Sept is for Individuals and Trusts.

I know trusts can take longer because of all the BG checks. Are there separate piles?

I keep being told they are in July. I must be talking with Stephanie.

      Pending: Oct 28th — F4 Trust.

That sounds about right and I would suspect that they get to the 6 month point by 1 Oct 2017 as that is the start of the fiscal year (that would mean 1 April 2017 approvals) and they want to make full use of the money they have for overtime and extra contracted/term help before that money runs out. Good news.

That is good news, I have 7 suppressors ordered through Silencer Shop this year. The dates for the orders range from Jan 5, 2017 where I ordered 2, a Gemtech Mist and a Surefire Socom 762 to June 9th where I ordered a ThunderBeast Ultra. The real bummer is that the first order was in limbo until May 17. I noticed that the Form 4 had no status so I called them and they did not submit the order saying i only had one tax stamp. I asked why did no one call me or email me and they gave me a few different excuses.
But hopefully my other Surefire Socom 556 which was placed Jan 13 will be here some times before Thanksgiving.

Just an update on my SilencerCo Hybrid, Checked cashed 8/27/16, approved 7/27/17, stamp and suppressor in hand 8/2/17. Finally the wait is over. Was supprised how quick the stamp came after approval, as I am in the pacific northwest. Hope this gives someone hope out there.

According to the Texas Silencer Company page on Facebook (Somebody on the AR-15 GOA page shared it):

As a result of ongoing communications with the ATF, Texas Silencer Company has been informed of significant improvements to the tax stamp approval process for silencers. These recent improvements by the ATF will dramatically decrease the time a customer has to wait to receive their silencer!

In consideration of the ATF’s formal announcement process, we are choosing not to be specific regarding expected wait times, but we can say that it will be reduced to levels we have not seen in many years.

This is great news for silencer customers! Stay tuned to Texas Silencer Company for more detailed information on this development.

I ain’t from Texas but I liked the page so I can see whats gonna happen. Here’s the link, you may need an account to view it: https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1638362919507316&substory_index=0&id=841858095824473

The big news and change SHOULD be “From now on you need to pass the STANDARD firearm background check to be able to take your suppressor home. Afterwards the DEALER needs to submit all required paperwork for registration.” 12 months down to 12 minutes. Problem solved.

I know, I know, we shouldn’t have to register this stuff (not getting into that).

If there is going to be news I doubt this is it. This is a blog post that does not cite any sources. He is taking silencer shops post from yesterday, and personal anecdote, and making the (not unreasonable) assumption that something has changed in the form 3 process.

You might be right. a later post from Texas Silencer Company says it is even something bigger.

      “Texas Silencer Company, Inc.

We will be announcing the specifics soon, but this is a TOTAL change

Hi everyone! Long time listener, first time caller… I read this and I shot coffee out my nose.
I’m willing to bet the “Big News” is that they finally got back the last of their pre-41F form 4’s. My shop that is currently holding my SilencerCo Hybrid hostage just put out that message via Facebook today.

Hopefully we’ll start hearing more of this from other dealers.

I’m getting the impression that someone at Texas silencer was talking to someone at the atf and heard what they wanted to hear rather than what was being said. At this point I am almost positive that what was being referred to was the ffl newsletter that came out this week talking about the NFA division announcement, which of course was not new news. Anyway, this post has a lot of good information https://blog.princelaw.com/tag/national-firearms-act-division/ Direct from the atf, they expect a 6-7 month turn for forms submitted today.

I concur. I routinely review the federal register and nothing has been put up changing federal regs/process/rule changes (this must happen and allow for public comment prior to any changes) Additionally nobody else have said anything except for Silencer Shop and the short turn around on form three. The above tracks with Laura’s comments (NFA Branch) about 6 month turn arounds and the ATF’s notification about branch reorganization (old news just now implemented because of the same Federal Register notification requirement).

This wouldn’t be the first time a silencer company got in front of themselves ……… Silencerco and the HPA

I just want to know why is it taking so long to cash that check… Usually they in a hurry to take my money. Oh well I guess it will be another year to get my two stamps back smh. This is ridiculous to wait for something I purchased and can’t pick them up and especially when I already own some. It should be once you are in the system with no problems then we should walk out the gun store that same day with our item!

These kind of comments on this board always make me laugh. The reason this doesn’t work is because the atf files are completely non searchable. It’s literally scanned documents that can not be character searched that are grouped by dealer and date and have to be manually searched if anything needs to be pulled. This is the result of most gun activists fear that if the big bad government has a useable database of gun ownership the man will come take away all their guns. Then the minute this turns out to be in some way inconvenient they are like, here, take all of my information and make it easily accessible so I can buy NFA items faster!

“Ya’ll should give us more details or an explanation about your post on Aug. 2 talking about some big news from the ATF. Because right now a few people, including myself, are starting to think this was a marketing ploy to get more people to view your page and website. I saw you posted on a silencer shop post a few days ago and I was like, “That’s probably BRanger.” I thought about calling out Texas Silencer but I didn’t want to get that generic response saying they don’t want to spread information they aren’t 100% on (then why make the announcement?).

Hahaha. Thank’s. But I did get a generic response. Hell it was a copy and paste response. Due to my name is not Michael. Here it is. I also called them out on using a copy and paste response.

“Hi Michael. We have been replying to individual comments on the previous post as fast as we can. There are more details coming but we are in the process of validating our information and source credibility before posting. Our goal is to provide information we have properly vetted before releasing an official statement.”

I replied backed “Thank’s for the copy and paste response. Because last I checked my name is not Michael.”

I looked at their products and I will not be using them either….What are they making the cans out of …depleted uranium? At 26 ozs for a 30 cal HUNTING can you would need a gun bearer to cart the damn things around. The Gemtech Tracker is less than 12 ozs and 2 inches shorter and isn’t significantly louder for a hunting can.

But even more than that is the irresponsibility of posting what they did and how they did…either click bait or they are gullible and foolish.

I don’t know what they are up to. Yea, that is way to heavy to put on the end of a gun. I was looking on their website seeing if they offer anything else, the only thing they were selling was that HUNTER can. And I swore I saw them talk about one other can they made, but I could not find it.

They use heat treated stainless steel surrounded by a tough steel body. So that solves why they are so heavy.

I really do not think they had any bad intentions in posting what they did, they just misread what was told to them and got overly excited. We are all frustrated with the long wait times and have a tendency to latch on to anything that signals that it will shorten. Just be patient and the approvals will come.

Well I just got a message back from TSC apologizing for their reply to my post. Here it is.

“Hi (insert name here), my name is Kaitlyn and I’m the Director of business development for TSC and I’m the one who pasted the response in a hurry. I apologize deeply for the error. I was rushing through posts and didn’t stop to realize my mistake. I hope you can accept my deepest apology.”

I did accepted their apology. Still not doing business with them due to they only have one suppressor model and I can find lighter and shorter at the same price if not cheaper.

Gotta love Silencer Shop for those cheaper prices, am I right?? In other news, I just bought my third can today, even though I’m waiting on my first two. F4 individual, Radical Firearms RF22 .22 can.

Faster form 3 approval and 6 month turn around. Huh, imagine that.

Form 4 in 2015 were taking 4 months and form 3 30 days………so an improvement over now, yes; historic, no.

12 months to 6 months is a great improvement, but is still too long. I have a feeling that as wait times decrease, more people will jump back on the NFA item wagon and start buying again. Naturally times will increase unless they put in a much better process. Working 7 days a week isn’t going to last forever, and the government loves making budget cuts so how long until they go back to 5 days a week and lower the number of examiners. I don’t like being a pessimist, but I don’t see this improvement lasting long unless they make a process overhaul.

6 months is no great improvement. In 2015, form 4 trusts and individuals were getting approvals in the 90-120 day window and form 3 transfers were getting approved in 30 days or less….. and this was before the “efficiency” reorganization and hiring of extra examiners and overtime.

To say that 6 months is an improvement (and it is for those just now in the game over the last year) is nothing more than asking those of us who have been in this game for a while to suspend our medium to long term memory.

Go up the scatter graph for form 4 trusts and individuals and see what I mean

i’ll admit, i’m a newbie to this stuff (1st and 2nd form 4 sent May 2017). So I didn’t know times were THAT quick. Although, I wonder if times will ever get back to that due to NFA items becoming more popular.

They were that popular then also. There were more submitted in 2015 than there were post 41f to present.

What you are seeing is the affect of panic buying due to hype around the 41f and the election. Those that were on the edge but previously hadn’t committed, bought.

If times were to get down to 4 months or less consistently I will be buying A LOT more. I don’t do long range so short barrels are great for me and suppressors are just a no brainer.

The logic escapes me. Wait 5 or 6 months for the wait to get down to 4 months then buy instead of buying now and waiting say 7 months and getting your can 2 to 3 months sooner than waiting to buy?

Waiting to buy until demand picks up means less availability and no sales (and potentially higher costs)

I just realized that the Form 3 section hasn’t had any traffic in 2 months, so here it is.

I understand that Form 3 times have dramatically improved as of last week, but please bear with me:

I ordered my first suppressor through Silencer Shop (SS) back in mid October of 2016, the form 3 cleared in the middle of November and they shipped it to my local FFL the day it was approved with a tracking number sent to me (the can is still in NFA jail). I ordered my second can back in mid May of 2017, the form 3 was approved in late June and they still have not shipped it to my FFL. I emailed them this past Friday and they said they’re probably shipping it this week. I bought another can (yes, I have a problem) yesterday 8/6/17 and I got the final form 4 email this morning saying that Roy signed my Form 4 and they submitted it to the ATF as it says on my user dashboard on the SS online sight, but the form 3 is “ready for submission”. I guess I stemmed this in to more than a simple question, but as a rant. Sorry. But don’t they have to wait until the form 3 clears to submit my form 4 to the ATF? Additionally, has anyone else experienced a shipping delay from SS after the Form 3 cleared?

I swear if they send out my third can before my second, I’m going to raise hell they were both in stock the days I ordered them and they basically have the same serial numbers.

    Sorry for the rant!

I did my paperwork with SS in Feb. I want to say that my Form 3 was approved in March. and the store got it sometime in late June or early July. But I was never informed that it had left SS or got a tracking number for it.

My question is: What difference does it make if you can’t take possession of them until the shop has the form 4 stamp in their possession? Technically under the law, it is not yours until the Feds say it is and that includes filling out a ATF form 4473 at your store that it was shipped to. In essence, your payment is nothing more than a “deposit” until you are legally approved to own it.

If i was informed correctly some 07/SOT have the ability to do your form 4 before they actually have possession of the can. And im pretty sure S.S.has that ability. And as for the deposit on the can. Yes, thats pretty much it. Think about it this way. If for some reason your denied,or something comes about that you can not own it. Or you up and die. Then your dealer has to sell it to someone else. Thus starting the procedure all over again. I know a dealer that has 3 cans and a HK sub gun. All approved and paid for 16 yrs now. The buyer was injured in a motorcycle crash. And has been in a coma ever since. And technically he is still alive. And until his death. They are in limbo. No, they where not in a trust. Quite the mess….

Hi, first time caller, long time listener.

I finally pulled the trigger and got my first suppressor… well, started the process to my first suppressor. I purchased it on July 20th and my pack got dropped off on the 21st but didnt go out till the 22nd of July. ATF took their money on the 26th… and now I wait…. and wait… and wait…

One thing about my dealer is if I so wish, I can go up there and borrow to shoot on site, just cant take it home… didnt ask how that effects things if someone gets denied… but something to pass the time I suppose. Wait time is gonna kill me.

Co-worker purchased 2 suppressors, but through a trust… so we are waiting to see what happens first and when… nothing like some competition.

So I found out I have “visitation rights” to my suppressors at my local FFL and gun range. If I would’ve known this past November when it got there, that would’ve been great lol. Plus they got a new NFA manager that actually calls customers when their stuff comes in and they’re available to shoot while waiting on stamps. I know what I’m doing tomorrow!

haha, I like it, it works. Well, what really sucks for him is I think he said they dont even have a range… just sell stuff… so if wait time is a punch to the gut.. does that make it a kidney shot now? I am 30 minutes away from mine and resisting the urge to go ahead and get another suppressor so I can have it there to shoot too… but I gotta buy new barrels first before I can use them… but it would be so much fun… cant stop modding vehicles, cant stop modding guns… I think I have a problem.

Can you imagine having to answer the phone all day and answer all of the impatient questions on why their stamp is taking so long?

You likely got somebody at the end of their shift on the phones and got an inaccurate and less than interested response. That is why this site was formed and why it is so important to enter your data in the data base. It is a more accurate overall view than a phone call response and the “one of” postings in a forum

Have faith, by the looks of things you should get notification soon.

Seriously. They are a small government agency, be glad they are as willing to respond to random calls as they are. Every time some random person calls that is time that is taken away from them approving forms. Calling them will not make you get approved any faster, just look at the graph and you will have a good idea of when you will get approved.

First off, the line to call and request info on your submission is just that. Now, at the current wait times. Your not going to get any real answers till your well past the 350 day wait. And as for calling, your getting the same 4 ppl that are there doing exactly what there supposed to be doing. Answering the phone, and giving YOU the caller the caller what info is available at the time. So unless your transferred to a examiner,or a agent. Your not wasting anyones time. And here is why making such call at or about the end of the current wait helps. If you read threw some of the threads on here, and other places. You will find where there have been problems where stamps where either lost, or misplaced. US mail, or dealers can have hiccups in the system. Or how about the shadey dealer that didn’t call the new owner. And was found to be using his can as a demo can? For almost 2 month’s. So NO, calling is not going to make your stamp and paper work get done any faster, but if something is wrong. It may save you some time by knowing. And im here to tell you this, they aint going to call YOU if there is. Be your own advocate, thats the bottom line.

Id give it a week and call back. The person answering the call may have confused your F4 Ind. With the wait times on a F4 trust. I wouldn’t panic, hell maybe when you call back next wk. You get told its been approved, then the 15 working days wait starts. Yea, more waiting.

dont be confused i called a week or two ago and was told by “stephanie” who answered my call that they were still in july and i had a few months left. i looked at the tracker and figured she said that so i wouldn’t call back anytime soon. i called back again a week later on a thursday and found one of my forms approved and the next form approved that sunday. less than a week after i was told i had months left. believe the tracker over what they say when you call. all your looking for when you call is if your pending or approved. thats it.

I have a hard time believing any of those few folks answering the phones really knows how long the wait will be for any of the forms or ind/trust. I wouldn’t take their comments as truth – they are probably just admin folks.

This thread is spinning out of control. Can you folks stay on topic or create a new thread titled “ATF theories and speculations”, “Nagging Nancy’s”? Just saying..

Well your “just saying” is wrong…what is the purpose of this thread? To post approval time lines….no, that is what the transfer scatter graph is for and the data base.

The thread is to talk about issues surrounding form 4 individual applications not for you to follow one of approvals.

Well just got some bad news sent two form 4s in last month and both were sent back saying credit card declined… Are you kidding me??? My dealer and I both went over the numbers on the paper they sent back! They were correct, my three year old even read each letter, my bank said everything was good on my end so please tell me how someone manage to make a mistake on two separate form 4s regarding payment? This kind of burned me up especially knowing I’ve been paying with a credit card with no problems. Now all of a sudden they can see how you look and make a error “judgement” thats how I feel and thats how Im calling it. If I wouldn’t have spent so much money on the one’s I have I would of told the guy to just keep it and screw the new hassle.

Could it be that your CC company declined the transaction, assuming that it looked like a fraudulent charges (2x $200 to BATFE)? For future reference, it’s probably best to send the funds in the form of a cashier’s check or money order. You avoid encountering similar issues.

I spoke with my bank. They said they didn’t even show anything from the BATFE trying to charge my account. So I really dont know but I will from now on do cashier’s check or a money order.

Only thing I dont like about money order or cashiers check is you cant track it. That is why I used my cc, because I could see when it hit. But I can see you being burned… my options are either cc or personal check, that way I can track. But maybe there is a way to track with cashiers check or money order and I dont know, I have done few in my life.

I am not sure about other banking institutions, but Bank of America’s cashiers check gives you the ability to check on the status of their cashiers check. Just keep the check number and receipt, call into the customer service center and request for the status of the check. I was able to gather that information from Bank of America and obtain the cashed date.

That’s the reason I used the cc so i could track the funds being taken out. Im ready to overnight them both today. i just can’t believe I have to do all this paperwork over again. To top it off I have to drive a hour just to get to my dealer.

These posts along with the definite down trend in the scatter plot are encouraging. Hoping for my mid December form 4 in the next month then hopefully less than 6 months for a form 1 and 4 from last week

There is no reason that it shouldn’t start to steamroll when they completely clear the month of July.

I just wish we had even the vaguest idea of when they will be done with July forms or how many are left. The sad thing is, I don’t think even the folks at the ATF know how many more are left.

So my dealer text me today at lunch. He got a friends form 4 INDIVIDUAL that came back today. It took 11 months to the day. His pending date was Sept.5th 2016. So since its not mine, im not updating the tracker graph. Just a FYI.

The November 12th approval is mine. Called the ATF earlier today and they said it was approved on Saturday, the 12th. Looks like they’re still at least working Saturdays to get forms through.

9 months to the day from check cashed to approval. It’s going to be a looooong week waiting for that call from the FFL.
