Form 1 E-file Wait Times
20161107 at 10:52 pm #74306
I have two e-filed form 1’s, filed on 5/16 and 5/19. Hoping they come through in the next 1-2 weeks. Will let you all know when.
Thought I’d start a post for form 1’s since I see them sometimes pop up on the form 4 posts. If anyone else wants to share their recent form 1 approvals, I’m sure others would appreciate it as well.
To the NFATracker guys, I think your scatter graph for approval times could use a minor adjustment in the “Transfer Tracking” -> “Wait Times” scatter graph. I’ve had the same think happen in excel for “A”:
A) You’ll notice the X-axis doesn’t quite match the actual data point call out values. I think possibly the x-axis values are lined up with the middle point between the lines, not the actual x-axis major grid lines. I notice it specifically when I click on a point, and, say, a more recent June 9th point is to the right of the 6/16 grid line. Either the grid lines need to be updated, or you need to add minor grid lines.
B) Using that same June 9th point, it says “170”, which I assume means 170 days. That can’t be true since June 9th is about 5 months prior to the date of this post, or “roughly” 150 days. I’m assuming for e-files the “check cashed” date is the same as the “purchased” date. It’s confusing because I’m waiting on mid-May applications, which make sense with a “170 day” wait time, but I see “June” submissions being logged as approved. Is this a user error, or a graph error.

are you sure you are looking at june 2016 and not 2015?
20161108 at 12:22 pm #74332
I was looking at it as 6/16 = June 16th, but now I realize I’m an idiot as it means June 2016 (I’m conditioned from my usual formatting of mm/dd, not mm/yy)…
My other point (B) is still up in the air. I’m assuming I’m reading that wrong somehow? What does the number after the date mean? I thought it was days from check cashed to approval, but how can that be if one point I see was submitted on Jun 17, 2016, and was approved 162 days later, which would be Nov 26th (18 days from now)? Maybe the graph is erroneously showing days from purchase date to approval?
The Avg Wait Times bar graph shows an anticipated wait time from check cashed to approved of 130 days. That must be a trailing 12 month avg, since a 6 month avg would be closer to the reality now of ~180 days.

My form 1 was E-Filed on 6-9-16… right at the 150 day mark now. I will post again when approved.

I e-filed my Form 1 for an SBR 6/30. I’m thinking I might have another 2-3 weeks, perhaps a month.

My Form 1 trust was e-Filed and paid for by credit card on 5/11/2016… and it appears that my response is overdue.
It’s been 182 days and I’ve seen nothing in the mail. Who should I contact to see what is going on?

E-filed first form 1 on May 25,2016, second on June 5, 2016 paid via credit card for each when submitted. Still waiting for approval on both. Will post again when they are approved.

3 form 1 trust files for SBR 5/12/16, all approved on 11/2/16, notified via email

I’m glad to see some current feedback as to eflied form 1 times. I eflied a form 1, for a SBR on 6-2-16. I’m hoping I receive my stamp before Thanksgiving. I know that is a tall order but I’m still optimistic. You see I would like to utilize my SBR AR-15 for hunting and the season runs out the end of the month. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, you see I also have 2 form 4s submitted the same time for silencers. I believe they won’t be approved until the new year. Anyway I do appreciate the current information on approval times.

Submitted/in progress- 5/17/16

Thanks for sharing. I have e-files from 5/16 and 5/19 that I am waiting for, so now I’m both mad that I haven’t received the one yet, and happy that both must be within days of approval.

i figured until these guys get that spreadsheet back up this is our timeline. So should be soon. Now if I could only figure out where in the timeline trust form 4’s are.

Feedback from a couple sources:
One guy on the local board recently had Form 1 approved.
Form 1 (Trust) Paper
Check cashed: 4/25/16
Stamp Approved: 10/28/16
Stamp Received: 11/10/16
206 days mailed to received.
On another NFA site:
So it looks like they’re into April/May submissions for Form 1’s right now.

I filed a form 1 SBR on 5/30. I am currently at 168 days and counting. I’m keeping my fingers crossed I get the email this week or next. Will update when received.

M92 Pap Form 1 E-Filed 5/16 approved 11/8 by Heather Thompson if anyone cares to know
20161118 at 11:48 am #74724
Received my e-filed form 1 approval this morning:
Approver: Nathan Hartsock (I think)
Time from e-file to stamp received: 186 days
You can see it on the wait time scatter plot, one of the higher points in the cluster around 5/16. One down, one to go (+ four F4’s).

For those of you lucky few that received recent approvals, anyone care to share you permit number from the eforms system? Just looking for a rough idea. I don’t think it matters, but don’t put your exact number up as I would gather someone could get personal info from it somehow. Anything is possible.
Reason I ask, is I submitted three sbr’s in roughly 12 hours, and the numbers appear sequential. So my permit numbers are in the high 316,000’s but not 316,100 and the last one from July 1 was upwards of 317500. I has me wondering if they process these in order. If so, we might be able to track where they are currently approving and even possibly how many the actually approve in a day. Might be interesting, or might not make any sense like most things atf.
20161118 at 2:46 pm #74735
You can omit the 2016 as I gather we are all in the current year, hopefully any way. I found it crazy that roughly 1500 sbr were submitted July 1 if the permit numbers are in deed sequential I am in for a longggggggggg wait.

My most current form 1 was 240,1xx
20161118 at 2:54 pm #74738
Approved 11/8 submitted 5/16
20161118 at 2:57 pm #74740
So your was 11/8, if hellrazr posts, we might have a good idea of how many they can do in 9 business days.
20161118 at 3:11 pm #74749
My # 2620XX a form 1 trust efiled on 6-2-16 but are the numbers different for form 1 mailed, non trust, form 4 ect…
20161118 at 3:21 pm #74750
Yup keep it Efile only approvals
20161118 at 4:23 pm #74751
Soltrust do you know if the ATF assigns different numbers for each kind of form submitted? I’m also curious as to the number reviewed each day. I just don’t know if there are different numbers for form 1 eflied. In other words does the ATF have a separate number code for SBR vs silencer. Also are they broken down by forms? If you know, then let my know. I have no idea. As far as I know they could just assign every application from the same set of numbers. I submitted 1 form 1 trust online 6-2-16 and 2 form 4 trust through the mail around the same time. I’m sure my form 4s won’t be approved until after the new year. My form 1 should be any day now. The only way I know that is because of the information from this web site. I think the submissions closer to July will be bogged down because of the great numbers. Anyway I am thankful for this website and appreciate the information.

Received my SECOND e-filed form 1 approval today just now (Happy Friday to me):
Approver: Heather Thompson
Soltrust, my 5/16 e-file has the 10-digit permit/control # ending in 2416xx. The 5/19 e-file # ends in 2464xx.
King = 240,1xx
Me = 241,6xx
So we might presume that at least over 1,500 were filed on 5/16!
Me on 5/19 = 246,4xx so within three days it went up by at least 6,300. Maybe ~2,100+ per day filed in that period if the numbers are sequential? Poor ATF staff, I hope they really did staff up recently, for their own sanity.
20161118 at 5:15 pm #74756
The other interesting point to consider is are they really even doing a good back ground check. I bet if we continue this exercise we will really see they are licking and sticking. Likely too our 200 bucks just supports another worthless process and not any real vetting as I suspect.
Pretty cool information though keep it coming guys.
As to the question regarding form permit number assignments, I don’t know if they process a form one separately under a different permit number than say a form 3. My guess is that anything entered in eforms, be it a form 1,3,6, ect would be additive. If not it really shows how worried people were about the election. That’s almost 300,000 dollars a day in form 1 efile tax but our country is in debt go figure.
Judging by your numbers and again this is rough, take say 246400-241600=4800 applications in one day processed….. hmm. Using this, there is 70,000 between your approximate permit number and my approximate number. So at 4800 a day, mine would be approved in 15 business days or approx dec 14th. Again factor in holidays and winter depression and if they process nothing other than Efiles, January 15th? We will see.
