My Fiance moved in with me about six months after I submitted my Form 4. I have been calling and calling the NFA Branch hoping to speak with anyone about updating her address or figuring out what I need to do so my form is processed in an expedient manner.

I have been sent to 2 different specialists and an examiner. Haven’t received a callback. The customer service folks have told me everything from you need to do nothing to you will get kicked to the back of the line. So I have contacted my congressman to try and get my shit squared away. Hopefully, I can get everything set up so once I get to the examiner’s desk, I am good to go. Maybe I will get some answers about what is going on for everyone else in the process.

I take it she is on your trust?

I would think that a form 20 would cover it.

Yes she and my father are on my trust.

I don’t know what would cover it at this point. I was told:
    1. A note could be put in the file that she had moved in with me that our addresses are now the same but I can’t do that you have to wait for your examiner to call you.
    2. I would have to resubmit my trust, Form 4, and RPQs and go to the end of the line because my CLEO notifications won’t match.
    3. I don’t have to do anything.
    4. My application likely won’t be approved anytime soon because you have to be at an address for six months before they can run your name.
    5. Let me have you talk to your examiner. (Hasn’t returned my call)
    6. Let me have you talk to specialist A. (Hasn’t returned my call)
    7. I will transfer you to specialist B. (On vacation according to voicemail).

It is a damn frustrating thing I am trying to help them to make my paperwork go faster, and they don’t even know what their policy is. I can’t be the only person in the past 80ish years who has moved while waiting on a form to be processed.

    “3. I don’t have to do anything.”

Umm, so just to make me LOL. What pray tell did your Congressman (most likely Anti-Gun anyway) tell you?? Or did you leave a message with this persons aid??

So my advice to you Sir, you need to read about adding and removing a person from your NFA trust.

    Just saying….

My attorney has already done my amendment to my trust, and it has been notarized. What I was uncertain of was how to make sure everything I sent in got to the right person or if they even cared.

I got a call back from my examiner with in 24 hours of my congressman contacting the ATF. My examiner said just fill out a new RPQ and because my Fiance didn’t change counties I didn’t need to send in my new trust at this time.

I certainly hope you don’t think that your call back from the NFA examiner. And your call to your Congressman was anything more than a coincidence? And BTW, those CLEO copies. You’ll find that 9 out of 10 times, they either won’t take them. Send them back to you, or simply shread them. Im in Ohio, my Co SO office says “we could care less, we aint got the $$$ to pay for storage on the important stuff. Let alone that shit”.

It’s funny you say that dnut. My sheriffs called me to come back and pick everything up. Until I explained it was their copy. lol I’m waiting for atf to tell me I never notified them.

Not a uncommon thing that happens. Last April when my local Sheriff’s office (my CLEO) refused to take mine. Thats when i called the Charleston, Wv BATFE/NFA office. I spoke with a agent/ Examiner. The long and the short of it was this. Don’t bother talking to them about this. Just take your CLEO copies and put them in a envelope and date it. And if you can, the name of the person that said “take them”. And file them away in your safe. As of last April, the Feds don’t care that if the cleo’s can get there shit straight, then thats there problem. Plainly, Ive been told by many CLEO’s, its not there job to do firearms back round checks. They have there hand full enough wity CHL/CCW licensing. And until the feds want to pony up some $$$ to hire someone, and pay for storage. Then we are not doing anything with those forms.

Funny? This is not. It is just away of controlling you do or say. I filed for a permit in August 2016 and they cashed my check in August 2016 and I still don’t have my form 4 okayed to this date. I was never required to file a form 4 when I bought a car and the muffler is required on it. NO FORM 4 NEEDED. ATF needs to be shut down.

Got my official response in the mail on congressional letterhead today. They stated 13-14 months for all trusts and that fingerprints for trusts are not being submitted until the Form 4 packet has been assigned to an examiner. I called my Congressman back to emphasize how a 13-14 months is a ridiculous wait to exercise a constitutional right and that some oversight needs to be in place.

They did, however, say that I can do nothing about a change of address until my examiner contacts me.

So if it was me, id keep that letter in a safe place. Because some day, when your high and dry out of toilet paper. Then you will have something memorable to whip your ass with.

Fyi, i also called WV today to ask a question about a RPQ. And was told they are still working threw July and August. And was told this little jem of info. “That if the examining agent has form 4’s with problems. That those open cases are still counted as there work load”. Aint that just fucking dandy…..
